    Organisational Indicators

Download Now

This program is designed to help monitor progress towards the organsational indicators for the new GMS contract.  In particular, the recording of smoking status, Blood Pressure and the review of repeat medication.  The program is different in that the progress is measured against the end date rather than todays date.

The current Version is 1.4.0.2

There are five parts to the program

1) Progress towards the target based on a user definable end date.  On installation this is set to the 31st March 2006 though it can be changed at any point.

2) Measurements of indicators by clinicians from a user defined start date

3) Overall measurements by the practice from a user defined start date

4) Review some prescribing details

5) Information about the CVD Directed Enhanced Service

Progress towards Targets

This part of the program calculates the target population for each group and calculates the number and percentage achieved at present.  The calculation is based on the end date. For example the calculation for Blood pressure will include people who are not currently 45 but will be that age by the end date. It will also show the number of recordings from 15 months before the end date.  The program will calculate if the target has been reached and therefore the number of points achieved.  If the target has not been achieved then it is possible to do a prediction for when the target might be reached based on progress so far.  The results can be saved to disk as a TSV (Tab Separated Value) file or the report can be printed.  The prediction report can also be printed. Once the progress has been calculated, practices can then generate lists of patents who are missing these indicators.  These lists can be tailored by the practice to allow for easier management if there are large numbers involved.

Other reports can also be accessed from this screen.  The reports allow praxtices to generate lists of patients who have not had a BP check or their smoking status recorded.  Reports can also be generated for patients who have not had a medication review and in the latest version  patients with active repeat drugs that do not have a Simple Prescribing Indicator (SPI).  This report also lists the relevant drugs.

 Measurements by Clinicians

This part of the program allows users to view the number of recordings of information by clinicians from a variable start date which by default is set to the 1st January 2006.  The measurements include smoking status, smoking cessation advice, Blood Pressure measurement and review of medication.  This is a powerful feedback tool.  The results can be saved and/ or printed.

Measurements by the Practice

This part of the program shows the number of recordings for the whole practice from a variable start date which is set to the 1st January 2006 by default.  The program indicates the total number of measurements and the number of patients that represents. For example a patient may have their blood pressure measured on more than one occasion during the time period.  Results can be saved and printed.

Prescribing Information

This part of the program allows practices to search for Deleted drugs and practice drugs.  It can produce lists and numbers of the drugs involved as well as lists of affected patients.  There is also a facility to look at prescription and consultation intervals and to look for drugs that have not been prescribed recently.

 CVD DES

This part of the program allows practices to run a report showing their progress to date.  It also allows saving and printing of this report.  Presently there are two further reports allowing printing and saving of the register and patients with no information.  The report includes addresses so that the output could be mail merged.

All saved files are in the TSV (Tab Separated Values) format.  These files can be opened in Microsoft Excel which obviously lends itself to graphical display.  It would also allow sequential plotting of figures if the files were added into an existing spreadsheet.  This file format can also be easily opened by other programs.
